Don't hate the playa

I don't want to play this game. I don't want to be cutthroat. Or arrogant. Or kiss ass. Or pretend to be something I'm not. Do you have to act a certain way to stay in the sandbox? It's much more meaningful when 'your good qualities are discovered without your help.' But in this industry, I feel like those sentiments will simply get you passed over and written off. There is a certain amount of fearlessness that you have to have, which I hope to embody someday. But will that be discovered if no one gives you a chance? Well, being the eternal optimist, I'll be counting on letting the work speak. I know eventually I will be forced to play the game, but hopefully, it'll be by my standards.
